Avonbrook: A Commitment to Global Education
In 2009, Exeter College's in-house magazine, Exon, asked Michael Amherst to write a piece about his founding of Avonbrook. Michael describes what a difficult time the closure of The Abbey School was for all of the Amherst family and how important it was that his father's work should leave a lasting legacy.
Michael welcomed the opportunity to talk about the charity, saying, 'We have already had some positive enquiries relating to Avonbrook as a result of the article. It has made those involved with the College, both past and present, aware of our work, whilst also helping to further cement the special relationship Avonbrook enjoys with Exeter College. Over the coming months we will appoint our two new Exeter College Associates and I'm particularly excited about the potential opportunities available to all parties.'
The article is available on page 42 of a pdf which can be downloaded here.
