Board bid farewell to Trustee and Exeter Associate
At the end of 2010 the Board were sad to bid farewell to both Mike Hugman and Mike Coombes. Upon completeing his MPhil at Exeter, Mike Coombes ceased to be an Exeter Associate. Avonbrook Chief Executive, Michael Amherst, thanked Mike for making Avonbrook more prominent within College and in the recruitment of future Exeter College Associates.
Mike Hugman provided much advice with regards Avonbrook's inception. Owing to his many ongoing commitments Mike was sadly unable to continue as a Trustee. However, Avonbrook's CEO hoped he would still have a role: 'Avonbrook would not have happened without the advice and support that Mike Hugman gave me from the start. He also helped focus our minds as an organisation, providing Avonbrook's unique focus on teacher training and vocational education for children in the developing world. We owe him a great debt and I very much hope and expect that he will continue to be invovled, albeit from a distance, with our future work.'
