Avonbrook makes grant to PEAS

At Avonbrook's annual grant making meeting, the Board of Trustees agreed to make a grant to PEAS. Promoting Equality in African Schools (PEAS) is a rapidly growing charity that aims to widen access to education in Africa by founding and developing sustainable, low-fee secondary schools.

PEAS has now established several schools across Uganda, and Avonbrook will fund a new Director of Educational Excellence who will implement best practice across all of them, whilst also assisting with teacher training.

This position will therefore impact on the education of up to 6000 students within the next three years.The role will include direct teacher training and observation, the facilitation of teacher training workshops, formative educational inspection and assessment and consultancy for senior education side staff within the PEAS network.

Within four years the excess revenues generated by existing PEAS schools will fund this salary in its entirety.
