‘I will do my homework regularly! I want my school to be the best’
Working in partnership with local
organisations enables us to focus
support on education projects that
will deliver clear, tangible results that
mean something in the real world.
Providing education for those most in need is the very essence of Avonbrook Projects Abroad. The charity was born out of the closure of The Abbey School, Tewkesbury, which at its peak was providing education for over 120 children, many of whom were on places part-funded by bursaries.
Our focus is on making a difference to a community through education that is clear and tangible, not simply by improving the physical environment for children, but by funding training and education that will increase their opportunities in the real world.
With this in mind, we have two clear objectives that make us unique as an organisation:
- we will support the recruitment, training and retention of professional teachers
- we will aim to improve vocational and post-school education and training for children.
Avonbrook will provide grants for carefully selected projects that address one or both of these specific aims.
We cannot achieve this alone and understand the importance of in-depth knowledge of a community. For that reason, we work with local partners or non-governmental organisations that can help to ensure that projects are completed and funds are well spent.
As the charity’s work is carried out by partner organisations and we have no staff our running costs are minimal to non-existent. All of the charity’s start-up costs, such as printed materials and the creation of this website, have been covered by matching donations.
